Garden Design for Everyone Volume II by Robin Johnson, is a beautiful and well-written guide for anyone seeking firsthand knowledge on anything relating to gardening or urban landscaping using ornamental plants. While this book appealed so much to my interest, there was so much important knowledge I gained from this book. Considering the prevalent impact of global warming, climate change, pollution, and urbanization, it is important that homeowners incorporate a garden, which I personally refer to as a green space, into their property. The benefits obtained from a garden cannot be overemphasized.

This author began this book in quite an intriguing way while discussing why it is important that readers visit other people’s gardens. This book features some beautiful selections of Australian native plants. This book provides insights on how gardeners can get the soil right; this includes creating garden compost and how to make good compost. The author further explores the design process of planning a garden, understanding scale and proportion, building a garden path, and more.

Everything about this book was absolutely beautiful. This book proves that gardening goes beyond just finding a space to grow plants. The thoughtful design and planting process is what makes an actual garden. As an agriculturist and environmental advocate, I got to know the botanical names of a few more plant species through this book. What is a beautiful gardening guide without pictures of beautiful plants? I found this book to be colorful. I love the pictures of the plants featured in this book, and I must commend the author for the quality of these pictures. The incorporation of diagrams and pictures made the author’s writing easier to comprehend.

I had nothing to dislike or criticize about this book, as it was well-organized, brilliantly edited, and free from any errors. The editors of this book did an amazing job. The author’s style of writing was concise, straight to the point, and well-detailed.

This book was very appealing to me, and with nothing against it, I will rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to all gardeners and readers who aspire to own their own garden.
