Review of The Savvy Investor
Most people who are interested in investing lack the knowledge necessary for making investments and become mostly aware of the risk involved. I had a friend who bought a stock, but it crashed later on, and she lost everything; since this incident, I saw stocks as risks and just avoided them altogether. When I came across this book, I thought to myself that since I'm nearing my retirement age, I would want to gain more knowledge on making reasonable investments for myself, my family, and my future. This book educated and enlightened me on what it takes to be a smart investor.
The Savvy Investor by Eric Reinertsen is a concise yet highly enlightening book on being a smart investor and making wise investment decisions. The book begins at the very basic level with explanations of the meaning of investing and investment and who a smart investor is. Next are the types of investments and the peculiarities of each of them, coupled with information on building your investment portfolios and strategies for investing for beginners. Understanding the dynamics of the financial market is another area this book expands on. I learned a lot from this author, and if you are interested in gaining knowledge on investments and the financial market, read this book.
This book is a good exposé regarding investment, written in an obvious and easily understandable manner. It starts from the basics of investing so that even people without prior knowledge of the topic would find it easy to follow the discussion. The author infused real-life stories and realistic case scenarios as each concept was covered; this helped me make more sense of what was being discussed at each point. The plot was well-structured and engaging, with in-depth explanations and a practical approach intertwined. I must commend the author for the immense research put into this work; it is definitely an arsenal for anyone who is considering investing at any point in their lives.
I have no dislikes at all for this book. It met and exceeded my expectations. I didn't encounter a single error throughout my reading; I believe that this book was well-edited. For its striking attention to detail and the wonderful presentation, I am rating this book five out of five stars. I recommend it solidly to individuals interested in financial books and those who are interested in investing or are already doing so.
