I was surprised by the length, too. I remember when I was in college, and I would see these doorstopper-sized tomes on my mentor's shelves that promised knowledge about success. I always felt like I'd graduate before I finished reading them. This looks much more user-friendly. Thanks for your review!

As I look at this book and read the review, I think of all the teens I have worked with (a lot over many years) and I wonder how many would even crack the book open. The cover would be off-putting for most (and the goal is to get them to read it). But the inside, although applicable to teens, really sounds more geared toward adults. It is the very rare teen that cares about networking or making lists about their potential interests and strengths. I am sure the information is quite helpful for them as they prepare for college, but they would likely need to be forced to read it. It does have the length going for it, though!

This sounds like an excellent book. I am so thrilled to see it is short too! I went to high school having no clue what career path to follow. Went to undergrad feeling the same. Then decided I still had no clue so I'd go get a Master's degree to give myself 2 more years to sort it out. Still no clue, but at least I got two degrees out of it. When I look back I can easily point out many things I should have done but passed up because I never thought to do it or was too scared to try. It's great the author doesn't just give a list of to dos but also provides explanations of why certain activities/skills are beneficial.

"A Roadmap to Career Success" sounds interesting and I wish I would have had something like this when I was venturing out. I think the shortness of the book is a good thing because then people can move through it quickly. It would also make it easier to look back if needed rather than sorting through a book that is a couple hundred pages.

I wish this was out when I was in college. I had to figure all this stuff out for myself. Sounds like something I'll recommend to people I know who are just starting and/or just finishing college.

Apparently the sample, such as it is, doesn't do this book justice! As a non-prospective-college-student 30-something myself, I had no interest in this book whatsoever, but your review surprised me. If it's so brief and packed with practical information as you described, perhaps it's worth a read for pretty much anybody. Thanks for the thorough review!

This looks like a great book. I learned from this review that you need to start preparing your future career before you start high-school. I like that this book tells you step-by-step what to do and how to prepare. This is a very informative review. Congrats.

Sounds like a great step-by-step guide for anyone really who is interested in pursuing their dream career. While I knew early on what I wanted to do, I wonder sometimes if I would have picked the same thing if I had stopped to even consider other careers while still in high school. I hope that high-schoolers and their parents are motivated to read this book since it is a nice, short plan for becoming successful in a world that makes in increasingly hard to actually be successful!
