Title: 90 Client-directed Energetic Protocols to Accelerate Trauma Recovery and Healing
Author: Leland W. Howe

This book is all about an approach to trauma recovery and healing that seems, in many ways, an obvious method to help the healing process. Invigorating, shaking off the past, bringing out a sweat, getting the blood circulating, shouting, and focusing on the whole body both inside and out in an energetic way: All of these methods seem to be an excellent and obvious method of inner pain relief. Sitting in a quiet room with a psychiatrist going over a patient's problems seems staid and slow compared to the techniques explained in this book.

Right at the beginning of the book, there is a long list of energetic protocols that are used to help patients, including names like 'The Healing Power of the Group Protocol', 'Identifying the Inner Judge Protocol', and so on. Then, the first chapter, 'Facing Down Your Trauma Tiger', contains advice that is appropriate to the title. The book continues with client examples and the appropriate protocols used.

Most methods use physical energy in some way. Movement is connected to our brain, and everything simply follows through. Clients present symptoms such as cold hands, slack lips, tight muscles, etc. It is all very interesting and somewhat stimulating.

I found it became tedious after the first half, and I feel that the gist of what was written was absorbed by me very quickly. I acknowledge the read is useful but would be better suited to someone 'in the know', such as a psychologist or psychiatrist. That said, the book was nicely laid out, did not contain complicated medical terminology, was perfectly edited, and, at times, brought a smile to my lips.

Because of the slight boredom issue, I will award this book four stars out of five. I like these protocols very much and feel as if they are a step forward in the treatment of trauma.
