I found it a little bit of militant style, more barking orders than helping.

The book is divided into three separate sections: Crawling, Walking, and Running. Crawling is centered around accepting responsibility for one's actions; Walking focuses on controlling one's thoughts; Running brings Crawling and Walking together and explains how to move forward to be successful. Mark points out that success is defined by everyone differently and encourages readers to determine what success means for them. After all, how can you define success if you don't know what you want to receive out of life?
Mark weaves personal stories and quotes throughout each section of the book, exemplifying the concepts of Crawling, Walking, and Running. In the first section, Mark encourages the reader to Google a story, and then later references the story without explicitly explaining the story to the reader! This creative use of exploration empowers the reader to act to further discover new information relating to the three main concepts in the book.
In the second section, Mark addresses fears and uncertainties readers may have when thinking about how we can regain control of thoughts. He specifically talks about how the word "try" can be detrimental to our success: "You can try, or you can do, but you cannot try to do." If we only ever try to do something and never fully commit, Mark explains we will never experience true success. We are too focused on what others think of us instead of being focused on the goals we set for ourselves. He encourages the reader to ponder "What fear is keeping you from realizing your potential for success?"
The last section is the most motivational, in my opinion, and sparked the flame in my heart to really think about the direction my life is heading. A final thought Mark leaves us with is "If you were to write your life's story, what would it say? What would you do?" This question caused me to slow down, gain control of my thinking, and encouraged a more positive thought process within my being (which is unusual from the normal negative thoughts that bounce around in my head!). I was expecting a motivating and empowering read, and that's just what Get Your Head Outta Your But's offers!
I did not find any errors within the book, and the formatting makes the book easy to read and understand. Mark includes a space for you to write your initials at the end of each chapter, encouraging the reader to take a physical step in claiming responsibility for their actions; a powerful technique to put the concepts of the book into action! I concretely rate this book with 4 out of 4 stars and will recommend to family and friends!

This is a great book to teach you what the meaning of POSITIVE THINKING is and what it does FOR YOU. Isn't it nice to know that we all have this power within us?? I have actually read this book a thousand times in different books and heard these phrases Mark tells you about and we all have heard lots of the phrases from when we were kids and weren't really paying attention when they were said and now we are telling ourselves "so that's what mom and dad meant...or we are nodding our heads when someone else says them which means we are understanding more and more about life.
As I got halfway through the book, it began to get a bit boring and it seems he kept saying things over and over again only rephrased.
I think it would be a great book for the "millennium era" readers.
