Review of The Elderly Gentleman's Ulyssee
๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ญ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ญ๐บ ๐๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต๐ญ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฏ'๐ด ๐๐ญ๐บ๐ด๐ด๐ฆ๐ฆ by Hans Bodmer is an interesting non-fictional book that takes the reader on a rollercoaster of a twelve-day hiking adventure by Hans. Hans takes the reader on a day-to-day encounter from the first day in Zurich to the final day of the hike. This is a captivating adventure that held my attention from the beginning to the end.
Hans began his journey in Zurich, fully focused on his main objective of making the trip to Geneva on foot. Along the way, he meets and interacts with different kinds of people, including religious persons. He encounters different scenarios, both horrible and exciting ones. He faced different experiences in hotels and other places he spent the night. Hans interacted with different hospitality personalities from hotel owners, receptionists, and waitresses, some who impressed him so much, like Margaretha and Mrs. Molle, and some who he put behind his mind immediately when he left the hotel or restaurant.
The trip had its own share of challenges. Hans had to endure challenges, temptations, and rather kind gestures that could threaten his next move during the hike. The weather on different days and the female personalities he met posed unique challenges that tested his resolve to attain his dream. Grab a copy of this book to dig deep on the challenges faced, the lucrative offers Hans has to turn down in order to get to Cafe de la Place, and celebrate one of the achievements of his life.
I enjoyed reading this book. The author made the story so lively that I felt I was there with Hans in every place every time. Hans used an exciting language that holds the reader's attention from the beginning to the end. I never wanted to put down this book once I started reading it. He used sayings and quotes to illustrate his experiences, making the story enjoyable. The incorporation of Gabriel, Hans's guardian angel, was humorous as it always left a smile on my face. Besides, I took away different lessons from Hans's journey. Sacrificing his pleasures, walking on foot, and turning down offers taught me the importance of perseverance and staying focused on the goal set.
I didn't find anything in this book to turn me off. Each day had unique experiences and lessons. Each day was an exciting adventure.
I give this book a ๐ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ rating. The editors professionally edited this book. I found a few errors that could not supersede how captivating the book is. I recommend this book to people who like traveling, hiking, and seeking new adventures. They will enjoy it. They will be excited to learn how Hans came, saw, and conquered all the situations he faced.
