This just goes to show you never know what people have to go through to survive, feed themselves and their families.
We work, pay our bills and then try to survive on what's left, this is the plight of lower income people.
I wouldn't think that food wouldn't be a problem in a 1st world country like Britain, but now I know better and I wish more countries, like where I'm from, had a food bank option for the working, lower income section of society that have to face the daily struggles.

in work poverty has become a real issue in britain over the past few year, due to a squeeze on wages and an ever increasing cost of living. add to that a government that simply doesn't care about the working class, and is only out to serve themselves and their rich friends the situation isn't getting any better, it's getting worse every day.
we need books like this. we need articles, and much longer books actually. people are dying due to low living standards whilst still in work earning minimum wage.
thanks for your review, and yes, it is alarming that in a nation that's supposed to be rich and powerful, this could be happening.

I'm curious to learn about the poverty statistics in the UK, so it sounds like this could be a good read for me. I also don't know much about food banks in general, so I'll be giving this one a look.

Food bank!!never had of it.unlike the usually mentioned! blood bank. i realy can now get the idea that says''there are people who live below a dolar bill in the united state and not only in africa.

I knew some things about charity, but it is my first time to know about 'food bank'. While reading your review, I was like reading the book itself. Hope to read the book soon. Great job！

before now I never new people go hungry to that extend, by reading this book, it showed me how people have been through hard time and poverty can affect anybody nor matter who you are I am definitely going to read this book till the end and add it to my shelve

I felt the author's heart melted upon hearing the concerns of
the poor people who came to ask for food assistance. The
problems he was facing while doing his best to expand his
food bank to cater all the needs of the poor and oppressed
were not easy to solve. He could have enjoyed his life and
not minded other's business, but he walked outside of his
comfort zone and extended his hands to help others who
were not in any way related to him. I laud this author for his
charitable instincts and his fights for his firm principles in
life.

have never once thought Canada and Almighty London could experience food crises and such hardship. I think this book is going to be a very good read for me, and to find out how it all started and how it was tackled to learn from it.

Reading this book has made me to know that even the most powerful nation are also experiencing hunger and starvation like other poor country. This reminds me of the quote of an economist that says that it is impossible to eliminate poverty in a country.
