As a mother of special needs children, my life is like a constantly spinning top. Between all the demands and responsibilities, I often find myself questioning some aspects of my life. I love my kids more than anything and would not change them for the world, yet I can’t help but wonder why certain things are as they are. It’s a never-ending swirl in my head, a dance between acceptance, curiosity, and a desperation for understanding things I will never understand.

Since therapy is not an option for me at this time, I came across Three Paths to Autonomy and Self-Actualisation during a quest for some resources in self-help. Initially, I was expecting to find some straightforward strategies for setting boundaries and learning to value myself more. Maybe affirmations and a few suggestions for meditation. However, I was surprised by the depth of the material I found in this book. It offers so much more than I anticipated. It dives into the intricate interplay of transactional analysis, spirituality, and the quantum field just as it claims to! I came in here looking to find some emotional regulation techniques and ended up learning so much more!

One of my favorite sections primarily focuses on how personalities develop over time. Understanding my own behavior has made me pause and reflect a lot throughout the day. It's comforting to know, as alone as any person may feel in this world, that we are far from alone in our feelings and consistent questioning of life. There has always been something reassuring in taking notice that my questions and struggles are shared by others. Not just the people near me but in people all around the world! This book has opened my eyes to so many things I had no idea could be connected!

I also really enjoyed the parts about self-acceptance. Learning how to integrate different parts of ourselves sounds like it would have a much higher success rate over forcing change and becoming a less genuine version of ourselves.

I should point out that if you're reading a copy of this book from the United States like I am, you might stumble over the different spellings found throughout the book due to the author's Australian background. At first, I had to take a step back. I thought for a moment that this book was filled with misspelled words, but it’s simply a matter of the regional differences in English spelling for those in other parts of the world.

Overall, Three Paths to Autonomy and Self-Actualisation is worth the read! I feel that I've stumbled upon not just some methods to help me calm all the thoughts that are in my head but a much deeper understanding of who I am and how I became the person I am today. If you find yourself in a similar place of searching, I highly recommend giving this book a chance. It has provided me with information that I didn’t realize I was even looking for. I give this book a 5 out of 5. There really isn't anything in this book that I'd change; how could I when it provided me with so much more than I expected? Linda Gregory is incredibly knowledgeable in this field and I truly appreciate the words of wisdom.
