Le Mutt by Eva Elle Rose is a soul-stirring memoir that follows the life of Eva as a young girl growing up in a broken home. From when Eva was born, she was subjected to heart-breaking abuse and neglect. Her stepfather, Elbert, cared little or nothing at all for her. She never knew the love of a parent as her mother had abandoned them and left them all by themselves.

As Eva grew to be a beautiful and tenacious young woman who had great dreams, the constant effects of having grown up in a dysfunctional home followed her everywhere. At some point, she married her boyfriend to escape the abuse at home. Only later did she realize that she had moved from one trap to another. Determined to make a name for herself, Eva did not give up and took up jobs to sustain herself.

With time, Eva’s efforts started to get noticed and she grew in her career leaving behind the rural setting of her home to the more comfortable city background which represented a form of escape and moving forward for her. Unfortunately, the wounds from her past persisted and not long afterward, she was caught up in other trying relationships.

I really liked reading Le Mutt by Eva Elle Rose. Actually, I could not put the book once I started reading it. The whole story is so inspiring and moving. Better still, the author is really gifted with words and as I read the book, I could not help moving along the motions of Eva’s life with her. I felt emotions of sympathy, anger, pain and eventually joy throughout the book. Every chapter was thoughtfully written and well-structured. Eva Elle Rose covers the highlights of her life remarkably well, building interest in the reader and letting the reader feel what Eva must have felt in the circumstances covered by the book.

The language used is simple yet packed with drama and powerful scenes. I also liked the fact that it was written in the first person as Eva was able to tell her story in her own perspective. It is certain that the book was well edited. There are very few grammatical errors contained in the book Le Mutt which made it an easy read. The development of chronological events is also well-executed and expertly presented which leaves little room for confusion. Mostly, the author uses first names for most of the characters which made my understanding of the plot so much easier. On that account, I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. The rating is truly well-deserved.

Abandonment, abuse, and neglect are heart-breaking to read about, especially in a memoir. Eva sounds like a strong woman to have persevered through such difficult circumstances. Great job on this review!

The effects of abuse will most likely persist in the memory of a person. It is sad to learn that Eva marries to escape the abuse only to discover that she had landed in another worse scenario. The book is full of hope though as Eva actually did make in her career. Thanks for the review.

Le Mutt seems like a beautiful book. I recently read a memoir on abuse and neglect, and had been looking for a book along the same lines. Your review came at the right time. I'm adding it to my tbr list :)

Writing the book in first person is also incredible. It is an advantage in that the author will report everything. Was left in suspense wondering how the second relationship she got into was like.

A dysfunctional childhood can stay with you for a long time. Sometimes I think those scars never really go away. This sounds like a really well-written book. I'm interested to see how the author overcomes! Thanks for the review.

What a sad depiction of a life. I hope that Eva is able to break the cycle of unhealthy relationships. A good writer can evoke emotions in the reader that mirror his own (when writing of himself), but it is so sad to realize that what you are reading is a true story. When you finish such a heart-wrenching, true tale it stays with you for a while. When I reviewed A Father's Right about a father who fought for years and years to get some type of visitation with his child, I was left wondering how things would turn out for them. It was so hard to let go of the emotions the author brought to the surface because you know somewhere in the world that person, whose words are on the page, really went through that pain.

A memoir following the life of a girl from a broken home sounds touching. Well done to the author for overcoming such dire circumstances. Inspiring, powerful, and well written is a plus. That it was well edited is another plus. Not for me, but I am glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the review!

This is an inciteful non-fiction memoir on growing up with abuse, familial relationships, change, hope, and growth. The book has a free sample on Amazon Kindle and has a well-written OnlineBookClub review that highlighted the book perfectly. Congrats on being the BOTD selection.

In this inspirational memoir, Le Mutt, Eva Elle Rose tells her story of childhood abuse, poverty and neglect. She overcame her background to make it on her own in the city as an adult. Congratulations to the author for being chosen as BOTD. Great review! Thanks to the reviewer for bringing this book to my attention.

Eva Rose grew up in a dysfunctional family with her mother leaving and Elbert abusing and neglecting her needs. This background made it difficult to get ahead career-wise. The author must have written well to cause you to feel emotions of empathy, anger, pain, and joy.
