Bread Fat by Joseph Eldor is a non-fictional book. Joseph Eldor is a medical writer and he compares medicine with religion. He is a leading innovator in the field of medical devices. He has written a number of books in the medical field such as cardiology, anesthesia, orthopedic, and biomedical engineering. He had worked in a number of hospitals. Besides his medical career, he is a leading manager. He takes part in sales operations of different industries. Overall, he is a multi-talented personality who is not restricted to a particular field.
The main theme of the book is obesity. The book explains twenty-eight Biblical references. In the beginning, the writer describes the history of wheat. Common wheat (Triticum aestivum) is also known as bread wheat. Wheat is most widely grown crop around the globe and 95% of the wheat cultivated is common wheat. It is one of the most ancient crops of the world and there are shreds of evidence of wheat dating back to 9,600 B.C. Nowadays, one of the major problems is obesity. Obesity-related conditions include strokes, heart diseases and different types of cancer. The writer provides interesting and alarming facts about the United States. The estimated annual cost of obesity in the United States was nearly $150 billion and that is a large amount of money. This fact is of the year 2008 and it has been tripled now.
The flow in the book is restrictive due to medical terms. One may find it difficult to read. As I was reading the book, I got bored due to these medical terms. Although there is little explanation of every medical term used in the book that is not enough. The facts provided in the book were interesting and they increased the curiosity of the reader.
I would recommend this book to doctors and physicians. Nowadays, the most searched items on Google and other search engines include medicines for reducing weight. So I would recommend this book to all those online searchers. I would recommend this book to young generation so that they can take care of their health.
I rate Bread Fat 3 out of 4 stars. It would have been 4 out of 4 stars if it did not include medical terms. There are a number of terms in the book which could not be understood by ordinary readers. I think this book is for the people who are familiar with the medical field.
