Review of Fearless
"Fearless" by Allison Monda was a page Turner. The author gave accounts of her experiences in backpacking, hiking, and mountaineering. Driven by the desire to overcome her fears, she embarked on a journey to explore the most scary parts of Te Araroa, snow-covered areas, and deserts. Monda's life was quite sad at the beginning; she faced a lot of judgments and was even referred to as a dress that didn't fit. That was when she was not picked for the main roles in a cast because of her body size. Backpacking was a way for her to clear her mind when she thought her marriage wasn't working anymore and that she needed space for herself to explore what she loved most and find the best solution for their marriage and herself. Did she break up with her husband? What were the most scary encounters she had while hiking? Why did she love going solo backpacking? Read more to discover the truth.
The book delves into the themes of love, family, self-discovery, fear, and courage. I loved the author's bravery in confronting her fears. I liked how she stated that the greatest fear is the fear of the unknown, and I agree that we often fear what we don't know the most. My favorite scene was when she went on a date with Iorek; it was so nice seeing her finally happy.
I enjoyed reading through her stories; they were relatable, and I felt like I was part of her hiking adventures. The dialogue and monologue within the story were interesting and engaging; I just found myself laughing throughout the story; it was a perfect read for me. There was nothing more I wanted other than the empowerment to face my fears; I just got encouraged by her stories. I found nothing to dislike about the book; every bit of it was heartwarming, and her caring nature even made it more captivating. I loved the pictures that she took; some were funny.
I give the book a perfect rating of 5 stars out of 5. It was meticulously edited because I found no grammatical errors or typos while reading through it. The book was educational; I just felt I could even face my fears after reading it.
Adults are the appropriate readers for the book, especially those who enjoy reading books with severe slurs. The book was encouraging and educational. Its lessons were insightful, like the one about appreciating who we are instead of pretending to be who we are not. I highly recommend it to adults.
