A Row with Two Chairs by Scott Laurence Mocha is a story about a deeply troubled man seeking redemption in the face of inner turmoil. Scott, the main character, is a professional nightclub DJ who struggles with substance abuse, using drugs to cope with the emotional pain from his pursuit of other people’s love and approval. A near-fatal overdose triggers him to find a way out. Despite his lack of belief, he goes to a church, meets a pastor, and tries believing in God to see if a miracle happens.

Bit by bit, Scott becomes happier as his connection with his newfound faith deepens. Thanks to Destiny Church, he opens up and forges robust relationships that provide him with a much-needed support system. However, the narrative does not shy away from the persistent challenges he continues to face. Lingering issues, such as financial concerns and the unique difficulties of navigating a foreign country, continue to gnaw at him. A Row with Two Chairs is unapologetically honest about the complexities of faith journeys, showing that personal growth is not a straightforward process.

Scott's courage to confront his shortcomings, shed the protective layers he has constructed, and pursue a path of genuine self-discovery is truly admirable. The moments where he cries so much that he cannot say anything can make many readers feel for him. Through his faith journey, he transforms from lost and self-loathing to forgiving and responsible. Ultimately, Scott learns to embrace vulnerability, take ownership of his life, and dedicate himself to giving grace and love to the world. These are timeless lessons for those who believe themselves to be unworthy of love and salvation.

To sum up, if you enjoy stories that explore faith, spiritual healing, and the reignition of hope, A Row with Two Chairs will be worth your time. I do not have anything negative to say about this book. It has simple prose, readable paragraphs, and universal themes. Besides, there are no typos or grammatical mistakes, so the editing is great. Therefore, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
