You've written a wonderful review! At first glance, this didn't look like a book I would be interested in reading. I appreciate architecture, but I'm not really into it. Your review makes me realize how much more there is to this book than merely talking about architecture. I love stories about non-conforming people who mold the world around them (especially when they're real!)

Perhaps a little oddly, this reminds me of a speech Ashton Kutcher made during an awards show after his Steve Jobs movie. "But life can be a lot broader than that when you realize one simple thing. And that is that everything around us, that we call life, was made up by people that are no smarter than you. And you can build your own things, you can build your own life that other people can live in. So build a life–don’t live one–build one."

I am definitely adding this to my to-read list. Thank you for the great review.

Wow Mallory. I'm really impressed with your input. It's apparent from your comment that I was able to pass across the message I wanted to after reading the book.
Rick Smith actually built the Legacy Frank Ghery has in relation to architecture. Not only did he do that, he also carved a niche for himself in that world. He built his own life.

This is a really nice review Ayosinmi, you have really analysed the themes behind the book and been really positive. At first glance this book appears to be about architecture, but reading the review, it's so much more. It's also interesting to see that the book reads like a novel.
