The introduction of ‘Who told you that you were naked?’ is brilliant and refreshing with a clear explanation of events in Genesis and the writer’s need to write the relevance of the fall in eden. Who told you that you were naked? A Refreshing reexamination of the garden of eden by William E. Combs gives a good illustration of Adam’s understanding of death, which then reveals concept of dying as stated by God; and how this influenced his search for a companion. An in-depth analysis of what transpired in Eden; emotionally, socially, psychologically and physically.
God asking Adam ‘who said you were naked?’, brought out His goodness of a being who isn’t out to condemn you. The book explains how the act of sin can be so good but emphasizes obedience to God. The concept of little faith and real faith experience, the importance of entering rest as God planned and living in righteousness are well expounded. All this supported by bible verses with the writer giving his emphasis to bring out a better understanding of messages.
Initially, I questioned the title of the book as the writer himself acknowledges in one of the chapters, but it’s an apt title. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars for its professional editing and the writer engages the reader with personal testimonies that are close to home, the vivid description of grandpa’s construction reminds one of Noah constructing the ark.
A suitable book for all cadres, simple and easy to comprehend yet full of insight and wisdom. The study questions for discussion provides an opportunity for bible study that can be used in sessions for different ages including children. The book answers an age-old question of why wives have the timeless capability of forgiving their husbands. Who told you that you were naked? is packed with the Word of God and the reader gets a revelation on how faith works, the rewards of a righteous relationship with God and the relevance of Christ’s spiritual and physical death.
Once on board, a sense of peace engulfs you as you head to the assurance of rest and walking in the Way. Enriching, engaging, empowering and enlightening sums up this book. It serves as a welcoming platform for non-believers and wholesome for those needing to grow in faith. It is not easy to find this much in one book, but the writer manages to do this flawlessly. ‘Who told you that you were naked?’ is a timeless read.
