It sounds interesting, but I'm with you: I usually read fiction and prefer the "show, don't tell" method. I read the sample and kept expecting more showing. Thank you for this review.

Having worked in NYC in the 80's, I think this one would be a walk down memory lane for me. I will check it out further. Thanks for the review.

I've only been to New York once, and I was 5 at the time so I don't recall the visit. However, this book really helps you to feel as though you are truly experiencing that beautiful, vibrant city.

While this doesn't look like my cup of tea, the adventures the author goes on looks very interesting. I definitely enjoy a book with great writing style more, but this memoir seems intriguing. I'll give it a try.

Sounds interesting, but I dislike the writing style a lot. I couldn’t even get through the whole sample.

An interesting read. I always get saddened seeing people off at the airport so I relate. New York has been one of the most famous places and definitely would wish to fly there with my little angel.

I can see how this would appeal to theater lovers and fans of the city specifically, but with the writing style as you mentioned I don’t know that it would be enough for me to choose to read it.

Sounds like an interesting autobiography. Though as I have never wanted to go to New York, and not interested in Broadway, I'm going to give this a miss. Thanks for the great review.

Fun book for all you New Yorkers. Not into memoirs much, but the element of humor, exploration of Broadway & length of stay in NYC do sound interesting. Thanks for a fun review!

A great and honest review. Sounds like you enjoyed reading it despite the difficult structure of the writing. I have been to New York and it is an amazing, big city. The story sounds interesting and funny, it just not my type of book.

Actually, I find this book sounds interesting, to my surprise! I do like memoirs, if I have a sufficient reason to care about what the writer has to say, but I was not anticipating finding this book at all interesting, but Insomniac07, your review hooked me! I think it was the "giggle out loud" bit! I am a sucker for funny.

It would be interesting to read someone's perspective about NYC for so long and the changes over the years. It's a shame about how this seems to be more telling than showing, that is a pet peeve of mine when books do that. I'm glad overall you enjoyed it. Great review!
