How to Design Your Career GAME PLAN by Colleta N. Macharia revolves around the job search experiences of the author across countries and her career guidance experience. This book is divided into four parts to help the reader have a career game plan, choose the best platforms that support their game plan, consider the support they will need for their game plan, and finally, the afterward, or food for thought. In this book, Colleta said GAME is an acronym that refers to gifts, attributes, motivation, and experience, while PLAN stands for platform, leverage, articulating your value proposition, and nurturing your whole self. Most people perform poorly in their careers because they lack good career plans. The message in this book is about improving our talents and gifts to get the life or job we want. If you want to know about attributes, character strength, how to develop your game plan, and the resources you will need for its actualization, read the rest of this book.

There are things I like about this book. It has suggestions for resources that can help one discover character and behavioral strengths. It also has questions for reflection at the end of each chapter, intended to help the reader better engage with the topic discussed on a deeper level. Furthermore, one striking thing I noticed about this book is how the author used stories to arrive at her points. This writing pattern made the concepts stick more as I read through them.

The author pinpointed the need for personal branding. You need to be seen to be handed an opportunity. Furthermore, a takeaway for me is that in the near future, technological advancement will make the workplace more demanding, and to remain valuable, workers need to commit to lifelong learning. Reading this book, I understood that we are unique with individual gifts. Being where we are needed and nurturing our gifts is very important.

Furthermore, the delivery and choice of words used in this book are very commendable. I didn't have any difficulty with comprehension. The editing of this book is flawlessly done, and I have no dislikes whatsoever. With the above in mind, I give this book five out of five stars.

Finally, I recommend this book to anyone interested in drafting and following a game plan, which will give them an edge career-wise. Business owners will also find the part of this book on leveraging your assets insightful.
