Sounds like a fascinating read. Great review. Too bad about the editing errors. I like reading about this era.

Based on your review I'm going to read this and then pass it on to my history based husband. I like reading people's first hand accounts because I feel I can then understand the times and the individual. Well done!!!

I'd like to read the memoir of a black man trying to survive during the civil right era. I have a glimpse of what he must have gone through. Thanks for the review.

This book sounds very interesting and the title immediately grabbed my attention. The author's time in the Air Force reminded me of the Tuskegee Airmen. I agree that spelling errors take away from the enjoyment of the book and proper editing would have corrected those mistakes. I like the format of the story in that it is not your traditional novel, but a series of stories with life lessons.

It sounds like this is an important work of one man's life during the civil rights era. It is critical that we not forget how easy it could be for any of us to lose the rights we take for granted. Thanks for the review.

This book sounds like a great look into the life a black man may have during this time. I like that the review gives you a small taste of the book without giving anything away. This book sounds very interesting and informative about a mans life from his point of view. His accomplishments and hardships, I look forward to reading it.

A black man growing up in the South must have had a pretty tough time in that period. Thankful's triumph over adversity is a great story!

Good write-up. Seems as though this would be a nice light read. The only thing that might deter me is that this is a memoir about a person I have no connection with. However, even though he might not be famous, I would enjoy reading about his experiences because I'm sure there is a lesson to be learned,

Reading other people's experiences sometimes make you see things from a different perspective. One thing is what the textbooks say of American History another is what people really lived during those times. I'm glad the author could share his feelings about it. Thanks for the review!

I like the idea of virtually reading a commentary and getting more insight on historical events. Unfortunately I will not be reading due to the mature themes in the novel.

From what I've read so far of the book, he definitely has an easy, conversational style of writing, like you pointed out. It's amazing how much one person can experience in their lives. Great review
