Review of GOD'S PLAN FOR YOU: 21-DAY DEVOTIONAL
God's Plan for You: 21-Day Devotional is a devotional written by Tim Outlaw to help the reader connect with God. The foreword is written by a leader and speaker, Pastor Zachary Taylor, who admits to having benefited from the book. The book is a guide to be followed for 21 days, with one chapter for each day. Each day, the reader is taken through a lesson from a passage of the Bible—the Old Testament, the New Testament, or the Book of Judges. The author explains the passage and how it relates to us, and then prompts the reader to take action under three headings: think about it, pray, and finally, take it out. For each day, there are points to ponder, questions to answer, a prayer related to the lesson, and guidance to follow the lesson in your life.
The author uses anecdotes from his own life and humor to drive his message home. He distinguishes between feelings and truth and between being worldly and godly. He discusses God's mercy, submitting to God, making the right choices in life, knowing God and feeling God’s love, obedience to God, accepting God's will, and trusting God. He explains how it is possible to ask questions to God if you have faith in Him and how you will find answers, recognize His voice, and be able to face the consequences. He talks about how knowing God and feeling God’s love can change you. He urges the reader to ask God's forgiveness for being selfish and to delight in the Lord.
The author has been in church service around the world from a very young age and feels transformed by God's word and Holy Spirit. His wisdom gained through experience will guide the reader to become a better soul, a better Christian, and closer to Jesus. He says that God has a plan for everyone, but he makes it clear that although the path chosen by Him is straight and obvious, it may not be easy to follow.
This is a book unique in its writing style and guides the reader step-by-step to know God in earnest. The format of the book is very appealing, and the narrative is interesting and useful. The editing is exceptionally good, and there are no errors or typos. The blank lines as the prompt for writing notes enhance the usefulness of the book. I rate this awesome devotional 5 out of 5 stars.
The author has selected beautiful passages from the scripture. Even a person who has never read the Bible will want to read it. Although written from the perspective of Christianity, it will benefit everyone who believes in a supreme power and wishes to learn lessons about love and forgiveness. I would highly recommend it to people who have faith in Jesus and desire guidance for a better understanding of His love and mercy.
