Review of From Burnout to Belonging
At some point, we have all experienced burnout in our lives but could not pinpoint what it was. From Burnout To Belonging by Kimberly Carozzi educates readers on what burnout is, its signs, how to overcome it and its causes so they can take the necessary precautions to avoid it. One of the major causes of burnout has been a lack of workplace autonomy. Employees are denied the freedom to dictate certain aspects of their job that would make work easier and more efficient. In order to curb this, Kimberly discusses what microculture is, its characteristics and how to identify which microculture would best fit the employee. This will help link their needs with what their work offers to create an ample and conducive environment that will positively impact the business's productivity and avoid burnout.
There are several reasons why I enjoyed reading this book. I resonated with Kimberly's examples throughout the book since I have experienced some of the situations she discussed. This aspect helped me appreciate the author and understand the subjects she explored.
The journaling questions at the end of every topic provoked me to think critically about each topic. It felt intimate to know how I felt and thought as I sought the answers to the questions. The questions were engaging and will make readers enjoy the book as they experience how they think about the specific topics explored by the author.
There is nothing I liked least about this book; I commend the author for her informative content since I can now detect and identify any signs or causes of burnout and how I can overcome it. I also loved Kimberly's simple language in the book, as I could easily infer meaning from her choice of vocabulary. The reading experience was smooth and I was able to understand and grasp the content provided quickly.
The book was exceptionally edited since I did not come across any grammatical errors throughout the book. For this and the reasons I have explained in the prior paragraphs, I award this book five out of five stars. I, therefore, recommend From Burnout to Belonging by Kimberly Carozzi to all adults, those that have experienced burnout and those that have not, since the book will educate them on what they need to understand about burnout. With this information, they will learn how to be cautious and how to prevent burnout from occurring.
