Multi-Billion-Dollar Pet Food Fraud [/i] by Dr. Tom Lonsdale is a book which I give a rating of five out of five stars. I gave it a rating of five stars because I think the information provided in this book is literally vitally important to the health and welfare of dogs and cats. It is my hope that every dog and cat owner as well as all veterinarians and animal welfare workers alike will read this book!
The book starts out with the author talking about when he and another veterinarian first blew the whistle on the alliance between the junk pet food industries, vets, and fake animal welfare groups. In this book, the author clearly delineates why the word “junk” is used in conjunction with the pet food industry and why the word “fake” is used in conjunction with animal welfare groups. He does an excellent job showing the link between health problems in pets and junk pet food as well as what is wrong with the alliance between the pet food industries and vets/animal welfare groups. All aspects of the subject are appropriately covered. The author shares his background, his experiences and findings as a veterinarian, and clear proof for his arguments. He goes into detail on all the steps he took to “fight the system” when it comes to making a change. While some people might find reading all the steps the author has taken to be too long and detailed, I found it to be inspiring and necessary for people to understand what a mountainous task it is to make a difference in this very important matter. The author has been fighting for the animals for decades, and so far, it has been a daunting task to “make a dent” in the situation. Dr. Lonsdale is truly a champion for the animals, and I applaud him for all he has done.
On a personal note, while in the midst of reading this book, I found out that our beloved cat may have cancer. Reading this book couldn’t have come at a better time, as I now have the information which I need to change her diet and give her more of a fighting chance.
Again, I want to reiterate that every dog and cat owner should read this book. It is also my hope that lawyers, veterinarians, and anyone else with know-how to make a difference, will read this book.

This book is a wake-up call for those pet owners who still feeding their cats and dogs commercial foods. Through this book, they will learn the truth about the negative effects of processed food and may want to switch as soon as possible to raw, meaty bones for their pets. I hope this book reached a wider audience, especially pet owners, so their pets will stay healthy. Thank you for your beautiful and engaging review, Melodie!
