thanks for all your comments - it is clear to me though that most are getting the idea that the POLITICAL ANGLE in this is A CENTRAL THEME - this could not be further from the truth.

the CENTRAL THEME of this book is that THESE ISSUES AFFECT ALL PEOPLE IN MEASURE. EDUCATION regarding the topic of SUICIDE & your RIGHTS when a mental health episode hits is NOT FACILITATED in everyday terms in the industry, in training or in SPECIALISED education, let alone everyday education. this prevents engagement and solidifies ignorance, stigma and needless devastating fear. to say this book is mainly political effects the same result and keeps everyday people in the dark. this book tackles that misconception in everyday comparisons and experiences. there are far more factors than political that affect how you will be regarded or treated. also STIGMA and FEAR around the subject is NEEDLESS. Not the most appealing subject, of course. but this book helps get EMPOWERING information in perspective for anyone suffering and for those who act as carers, supporters, family and friends who feel a deficit in understanding. FOCUSSING ON THE POLITICAL ELEMENT, especially without reading the content, or assuming it is AIMED AT AN ELITIST SECTOR would be a grave mistake. best wishes to all - AK

apologies - also this is book 1 in a series - the second book is up for review and it will be interesting to compare the contrast, i state in the intro that book 1 is like the external factors and book 2 like the internalisation of all these and personal pressures. in fact it was impossible to extricate them in that way; but this serves as a convenient general guide. so book 2 is much longer and far more personal. "consider this a bi-polar book... if you didn't like one, try the other, you may be pleasantly surprised." that ins't a ploy by the way. best wishes AK

Mental illness is quite a controversial issue, yet Im greatful that it was emphasised and explicitly used in the book. Though the topic itself could be quite hard to observe, and difficult to read, but nontheless, it still exists as a great book itself. It's not for everybody, some might find this book.. unbearable.
