I've always been really interested in WWII, and recently I'm trying to get into history books. Fiction is great, but it's good to know about the past, especially the stories of the somewhat recent past since WWII wasn't even 100 years ago! Really good review, it's compelled me to look into reading it.

Thanks for the review and the attention to detail of the book in how the soldiers in WWII had a camaraderie with the others who were doing a flight during the war. It shows how difficult and dangerous that war is. It is also a book that looks like a good read and is a historical novel.

Indeed, the author has done a great work! It must not be easy for him doing this as he tried to recall and imagine what his own father has went through during those times. Also, writing a story based on what is available data could be challenging. But hats off to him for being able to come up with such a beautiful and valuable pieace of work. I commend the reviewer for providing a clear and comprehensive review. It allowed me to connect easily with the story and enticed me to have this on my want to read list. Thank you!

In a way it reminds me of the book Unbroken. Even though that one was hard to put down there were parts in there I don't care to read again. I have a feeling some people may go through the same experience. So I am going to have to pass. Thank you for the review.

Oh wow. I can’t believe Mr. Snyder took the time to honor his father this way. What an honor to share this gift with the world and his legacy will last forever. People don’t appreciate war trauma unless they have lived through it. Great review, Heidi! Even on my worst day, it could never be as bad as war soldiers on their best day.

Thanks for the great review, I'm going to definitely get this book. My dad was in the Army and I heard a lot of war stories from him, so this subject is very interesting to me.

Thanks for the review! I am very interested in this read, as my family in law, my husband's grandfather, was also a pilot and a sole survivor of his crew, with letters, stories, and such. There is nothing else like the true events of a time like this from those who lived it. Looking forward to this one.

Shot down by Steve Synders sounds like an inspirational non-fiction book that is augmented by journal entries to make it more personal and engaging to the reader. The review definitely piqued my interest about American pilot Lieutenant Howard Snyder and his crew during WWII.
