High expectations are placed on individuals as early as childhood. People are taught early on that one must enter a prestigious university and get a college degree in order to achieve financial freedom. However, that is simply a misconception that people have adapted to believe as a result of societal norms. There are many ways to succeed without forcing yourself to go through the college system. If you are someone who is struggling with the concept of college, Ken Rusk's Blue-Collar Cash might just be your perfect next read!

Blue-Collar Cash is a 263-page book containing a variety of lessons on how to thrive in a society that looks down upon blue-collar jobs. It discusses how one college isn't the only path to success and explains in depth how those with blue-collar jobs can live just as fulfilling lives and retire with a solid amount of money. Throughout the book, Rusk recalls multiple stories about people around him who stumbled across different problems but ended up thriving with jobs they came to love. Additionally, he provided a variety of mental exercises and organizations that people could join if they didn't know where to look for work.

I could not have come across this book at a better time. I am a student who currently feels lost in college. Even though I am pursuing a decent degree, I often wonder if there is more to life than working a desk job. I have always been far more comfortable working with my hands and this book makes me feel like I have a much higher chance of living a fulfilling life than attending classes ever has. By reading this novel, I have not only gained insight into how to make money but also retained valuable information regarding investing in the market and time management.

This book wasn’t just informational, it also had many personal touches. My favorite parts of the book were Rusk's anecdotes about the people around him. He told multiple stories of the people around him who struggled to survive but eventually found happiness and freedom working blue-collar jobs. I loved reading about the guy who developed a plumbing business and I found the story he told about his daughter incredibly admirable. Reading these collections of anecdotes helped me develop a sense of faith in my future.

This is one of the most useful books I have ever read. I valued every sentence I read and could develop a clear sense of clarity in my mind. It provided information on how to enter the workforce and also showed several motivating anecdotes, adding a more personal touch from Rusk’s life. It was easy to read and exceptionally well-edited, given that I found zero grammatical errors. Given my reasoning, this book deserves nothing less than a 5 out of 5.

I would recommend Blue-Collar Cash to people who are interested in joining the blue-collar workforce. I would also recommend this book to anyone who either feels like they don’t belong in college or cannot attend due to external circumstances.
