[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Get WalletWise, The Workbook" by Ken Remsen.]
There is a saying that "money answers all things," maybe not all in the real sense, but most of all human needs, which is why one needs to be prudent with money. Not everyone is born a billionaire, and not everyone will be one. But, the right attitude towards your wallet will give you a chance to live a comfortable and peaceful life that even billionaires don't live.
Ken Remsen, in this beautiful book, Get WalletWise, The Workbook, explains in detail with practical examples how to manage personal finances and offers budgeting tips for finding financial freedom and living a debt-free life. According to the author, most of the American population is in debt that they won't be able to pay off before their deaths. This debt could have been avoided if they had known the things the author explained in this book. The financial system is built in a way that extorts its users, and accumulating debt is easy with the introduction of credit cards. An indebted person can never live a financially free life and will always be frustrated. As someone who has survived paying off all his debts and now lives in financial freedom, Ken shares in this 219-page book the things that wrecked him financially and how he conquered them. This book is a must-read for everyone who makes money and can't explain where the money goes.
I had a great time reading this book, and I liked the pace at which the author moved. He started the book by going into detail about what causes financial havoc and how easy it is to enter it, then he proceeded to explain how to be free. The book touched on every aspect of human needs and spending habits. Things we consider irrelevant or minor can sometimes be draining, and we won't know because we don't see them as a threat. The author of this book explained that the rich don't have the same spending habits as the average person. Many people spend money to impress people who don't like them or are bothered by them. There was no dull moment for me, and I understood everything he wrote.
At the end of each chapter, summary questions test the reader's understanding of the chapter, allowing them to discover themselves and draw a plan. The author used flowcharts, tables, spreadsheets, and images where appropriate, and I appreciate this about the book. The book is not just about reading alone, but practising what you have read and judging whether you failed or passed.
There is nothing I dislike about the book. The book addresses issues that affect not just Americans alone. Everyone needs to get their spending under control to live in financial freedom, and the author did a great job of providing the required tips. The author used great quotes at the beginning of each chapter that prepared the hearts of the readers, and he also made great quotes that opened one's understanding. For example, "The cost of a wedding doesn't determine its future success." I learned a lot while reading this book, and I hold all I have learned dear to my heart.
The book was professionally edited, as I found a few errors while reading it. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This is not the first financial book I have read, but it differs from the rest in how the author reveals secrets of financial agencies, colleges, and many others. For these reasons, the book deserves the perfect rating I gave it.
I recommend this book to entrepreneurs, parents, young adults preparing for college, anyone in debt or struggling financially, business coaches, and readers of good books.
