The Wellness Blueprint by Maiysha Clairborne, M.D. is a guide to improving personal health and overall wellbeing. It is a nonfiction book that goes through various areas of the reader's life and lifestyle to offer recommendations for improvement. She has a very holistic viewpoint, demonstrating through this book that each area of a person's life affects every other area. Health must be something a person strives for in all areas.

I enjoyed reading this book a lot. The author goes out of her way to make everything personal, weaving her own stories and anecdotes into the tips and advice in a way that enhances the reading experience. Her tips are really geared towards someone who wants to understand where to even begin with improving his or her health. I don't have a medical background or much experience with my own health, so I found this very beneficial for me. I never had any difficulty understanding what she was writing. I also found a lot of the tips to be very useful and doable. Additionally, the resources in the back were great for exploring some of the topics she discusses in depth.

That being said, a few things did frustrate me about this book. It had a bit of a new age feel to it that I found off-putting at times. This is more due to my own personal experience than anything else, though, so it may or may not impact other readers' enjoyment. The other thing I found frustrating was the inventories the author asks the reader to fill out for almost every concept presented. I found it a strange experience the first time I tried to fill one out, and after a while, I just began to ignore them. Perhaps I didn't understand them, but I had a hard time figuring out how the various things I needed to fill out an inventory for could affect my breathing or sense of taste or smell.

I would recommend this book to a friend, however, particularly if this friend wanted to understand how to become a healthier person in every way. A lot of health focuses on physical health, which is important, but ignores mental, emotional, or any other kind of health that a person needs to keep up. I truly appreciate this holistic view. The author also delves into the practical side. Her suggestions are something people can actually do, which is very important when it comes to books about health.

Overall, I would give this book 4 out of 4 stars, because while I did find the inventories frustrating, I felt the depth of information available in this book was stellar. I loved the author's attitude, and I enjoyed reading her story through the book. Anyone who is interested in understanding how to improve their overall health would greatly benefit from reading this book.

Nice review! This book sounds like it could be really beneficial to someone who wants to better themselves in every way. It was an added bonus that the author chose to use her own experiences in the book; it gives the book a personal feel that readers love and can sometimes relate to.

I am always on the lookout for information to help improve my life. The review of this book makes it seem like it would be a good book to read for that purpose. I like that it takes everything into consideration, not just one or two aspects. I think that it's really important to take every part of your life and look at it all as things that factor into one's well being.
