When No One Else Believed by Ron Tripodo is an unbelievable tale of choosing love every day in spite of the world around you. Tripodo, working through his own learning difficulties, writes the story of his faith journey through his wife’s near-fatal illness. After overcoming martial strife that pushed the Tripodos to the brink of divorce, Patsy Tripodo contracted a rare illness that left her in a comatose state for months and resulted in a year of health battles before finally finding total healing. When No One Else Believed details Ron’s experiences and how his faith in God gave him the strength to advocate for his wife’s medical care and stand firm in his belief that God would heal his wife completely. Regardless of your spiritual or religious beliefs, this book will warm your heart and have you believing in miracles.

Tripodo does a phenomenal job of connecting with the reader by describing himself as an average man, with many faults, who serves a good, good God. He repeatedly reminds the reader how extraordinary this story sounds, and often expected to be greeted by men in little white coats, ready to cart him to the asylum. He doesn’t do this with the intention of making light of the situation, but rather does so in a way that reassures the reader of the truth behind the story, regardless of how fantastical it sounds. Additionally, he provides scripture references throughout the book that support his perspective, as well as help those who are not familiar with scripture relate further to the story, and manages to do so without any disdain or mocking tone towards those who do not share his faith. Please do not be turned away simply because of the religious aspect of this story.

Tripodo highlights, in great detail, the challenges faced when going through an extreme medical crisis, as well. While he speaks highly of the medical teams that worked tirelessly to care for Patsy, he also exposes some of the pitfalls found in the healthcare system, and how difficult it can be to fight for your loved ones throughout health challenges. Patsy’s doctors provided a grim outlook for her future, and given Ron’s steadfast determination that she would be healed, and his desire to fight for her to receive the best possible care, the reader is shown an inside look at how difficult it can be when you find yourself at odds with a medical diagnosis. You will quickly find yourself frustrated on his behalf, and simultaneously cheering the Tripodos on as they endure each obstacle thrown their way.

One of the best aspects of this book is that it is truly written for everyone to enjoy. Ron openly discusses his struggles with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), which severely impaired his learning abilities throughout his life, including reading and writing. As a result, the book is written with a simple structure and provides easier to understand explanations for complicated topics. Tripodo clearly did not want readers with similar learning difficulties to miss out on this incredible journey. It would also be a great read for those going through pre-marital counseling, as this book gives a stark look at what “for better or worse, sickness and health” really can be. He also worked closely with an editor to ensure an enjoyable read for everyone.

This book has definitely earned four out of four stars from me! There is honestly nothing negative about this book. When No One Else Believed is free of inappropriate language, sexual or explicit situations and shares honestly that life can be ugly, marriage is hard, and we all have a daily choice to find the good in a sea of struggles.
