If Only I Could Read by Robert Cox is a biography about the author that tells the story of his life and how he had to deal with the challenge of not knowing how to read.

Robert Cox was a young boy who could read well without any problem. After a tragic event happened, his mother decided to move him to another school. Soon after, he was sick with contagious diseases, so he had to be quarantined. This made him miss school. When he returned, he had to repeat the first grade. Later, his family moved to Arizona, and Robert's mother enrolled him in a new school. This was where he discovered a new problem: he couldn't read. He still couldn't read despite all his efforts, which was like a nightmare to him. While growing up, he was faced with the problem of reading, and he realized he needed to learn how to read if he wanted a job. But how is he going to acquire a job if he can't read?

The book is inspirational and very entertaining to readers. The 164 pages of the book tell about the author's struggles and how he accomplished his jobs even though he can't read. The book was well written, and it also has illustrative pictures. From childhood to adulthood, photos and even pictures of letters were all used to explain and give detailed information. All these aided the illustration of the content being passed across.

What I love about the book is that it is an inspirational book all readers can learn from. I love the pictures that I found in every chapter of the book. It made the book very interesting. I also love the character's determination to learn how to read, even though he feels he can't do it. At last, on page 147, he found a woman who decided to help him and people with the same condition to learn to read.

The only negative aspect I could think of was that the page cover and its design did not satisfy the theme and subject of the book. I couldn't trace the relativity of the book's content and the book's cover. Because of that, I would reduce the rating of this book to 3 out of 4 stars. There were a few errors in the book, which suggests that it was professionally edited.

I would also like to recommend this to fans of inspirational books. I would no doubt recommend this to teenagers and young adults, as it can be helpful to their lives. Indeed, Robert's story would inspire you.
