Review of Angels Watching Over Me
Can you believe in a God that you cannot see or touch? Do you believe that a spiritual being is watching over you? Pam's belief started when she met in a terrible accident. As her vehicle was going over into the ravine, she felt the presence of a friend hugging her and she could even smell his cologne. This friend had died a couple of years before that. On the other hand, Linda claims she received the holy spirit when her friend was diagnosed with a terrible heart disease. She prayed, and God directed her to touch her friend's chest and she was instantly healed. Angels Watching Over Me by Pam Ware & Linda Dipman documents the spiritual journey of both women and how they came to fall in love with each other.
Both authors shared how Christian churches are following the law of Moses and discriminating against homosexuals. They provide scriptures that help prove their point that God loves homosexuals and that they are walking in his will for their lives. What I liked most about this book was how brave these women were. These events took place in the nineteenth century when society was not too accepting of the LGBTQ community. Although these women were ridiculed, thrown out of their churches, and disowned by their family members, their faith in God never wavered.
While I did not agree with some of the points the authors made, I did not find anything to dislike about this book. My emotions were awakened when I read Tori's story. She was suffering from heart disease and an abusive husband. Because of her Christian parents, she was forced to marry this man after he got her pregnant. This leads her to have an unhappy marriage with him. This story is an eye-opener as to what happens in Christian homes when people follow church doctrines rather than following God's will.
Since I have found no negative aspects to this book, I will give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. It was exceptionally well-edited, with no grammatical or typing errors. The authors were passionate about their theory and were very convincing.
I would recommend this book to Christians, especially those of the LGBTQ community. This book will give you the motivation to continue your Christian journey. I would also recommend this book to persons who want to know more about how the Holy Spirit guides you in your everyday life.
