We all have times when we are not patient with family, friends, or even our Creator. We want things to happen so fast that we are willing to pay to see them happen instantly. However, we can’t force God to meet our deadline. What do we do when it seems like we have been waiting on the Lord for so long? How do we remain steadfast in our relationship with God despite not receiving what we want when we want it? And how do we manage our blessing when we receive it?

Willa Dean Montgomery is the pastor of Gospel of Grace Church. She has been a preacher and a firm believer in the Word of God for twenty-two years, and God led her to write this book. She applies God-given wisdom and her years of experience to break down the concept of waiting on the Lord, its importance, and how it is a part of the few tests we must overcome as Christians. She explains that we can’t force God to meet our deadline because His time is the best.

I like how the author writes straightforwardly with simple words and how she uses popular Bible stories such as the story of Joseph and the story of Esther to help her readers understand her point. Esther and Joseph are examples of people who waited on the lord and were blessed remarkably. The author also gives very accurate analogies that clarify confusing concepts. A good example is her comparison of Christians waiting on the lord and caterpillars spinning themselves in a cocoon until they turn into butterflies. As Christians, we must wait on the Lord no matter how long it takes for him to answer our prayers because he will surely fulfill his promise to us.

We all know that patience is a virtue, but while reading Wait! You’re Next in Line!, I realized how much our attitude mattered while waiting on the Lord. Thankfully, the author also shared tips on how to be patient and maintain the right attitude while waiting on the Lord. In later chapters, the author began talking about things like the great commission, how God intended for us to serve him, and a few other things that I felt were a bit unrelated to the general theme of the book. However, my reading experience was good, and I disliked nothing about this book.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because I learned a lot from reading this book. It is also coherent and easy to read and understand. I didn’t find any errors while reading this book, so I believe it was edited exceptionally well. I recommend this book for teenagers and adults who would like to develop the patience they need to wait on the Lord for their blessings. People who want to build a better relationship with God can also learn a lot from reading this book.
