Review of The Average Joe's Guide to Success
The Average Joe’s Guide to Success by R. C. Farrington is exactly what the title implies. It’s a guide for average people that want to get ahead in their careers. The author gives advice based on his own personal experience on how to be successful in the business world. The author begins by pointing out that there is nothing wrong with being average. He considers himself average. He describes positive and negative attributes. He states that you should work to expand your positive attributes and diminish your negative ones. The book contains twenty-three short chapters about topics such as staying focused, technology skills, and self-improvement. If you consider yourself average, as many of us do, you may find this book very helpful and inspiring.
There are many positive aspects to this book. It is a rather short book and gets straight to the point. I consider myself an average Joe, and I found this book very helpful and relatable. It took me many years to discover what I was good at and turn it into a career. The author gives good advice on many topics. The language is clear and easy to understand. For instance, the author gives a list of classes you can take that will help you to be successful working for companies in the future. The author also encourages readers to push themselves and think outside the box. There is even a place to take notes at the end of each chapter.
There is nothing negative to say about this book. I personally felt inspired by this book. The advice this author gives could have helped me on my road to success. I can even implement some of this advice now. The author’s suggestions about being open-minded, always move forward, and staying positive is great advice for everyone. The author does not overwhelm the reader with a huge amount of information. It’s a quick read.
I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I did not find a single error. This book was clearly professionally edited. The information is clear and easy to follow. The author kept my attention well. As I previously stated, there is nothing I didn’t like about it.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone that considers themselves average and wants to get an edge at competing with overachievers. People that like self-help books would enjoy this book, but even people who don’t usually read this type of book could gain valuable insight from it. I recommend this book to college students as well. This would be a great guide to success when entering the business world.
