Review of Immigrant Hustle
Immigrant Hustle by Amine Rahal is a non-fiction book about a wide variety of entrepreneurs from around the world who immigrated to the United States at some point in their lives.
The book consists of interviews of fifty successful business owners who were born in many different countries. All of them answer the same questions that inquire about their life around entrepreneurship. At first, they tell what their lives were like in the countries they were born in and how different life used to be for them. They recount the struggles they had after moving to the United States and how they adapted to this new environment and culture. They tell how they decided to start their own business, how it happened, and what was required, as no one had it handed for them, but in the end, they made it. Also, life can get stressful especially with your own business, so there are many ways to unwind and take care of your physical and mental health. Lastly, these people share a few tips for aspiring entrepreneurs.
I liked how straightforward the book was and the questions the interviewees answered, as they provided a lot of valuable information. It was really interesting to read about what these people had gone through before success. It was great how the book had included so diverse variety of people because they provided multiple viewpoints and showed that perseverance is indispensable. It was repeated that the best way to learn and gain experience is to go for it and learn from your mistakes and not give up despite obstacles in the way.
There wasn't anything that I didn't like, and for a book in this genre, I couldn't expect more. The text was overall encouraging and realistic. Furthermore, it seemed to be professionally edited. Immigrant Hustle was inspiring, and in my opinion, even if you aren't about to start a business. The shared tips apply to life in general, as all of them weren't about being an entrepreneur. The book also didn't get boring, as each one of the fifty had only a few pages for their answers. The text was concise and clearly written.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I think for a non-fiction business book this was exactly what it suggested. I recommend Immigrant Hustle to anyone who wants to read about real challenges that immigration and entrepreneurship can bring along.
