Ace Bowers makes it very clear that motivation is the key to success, in this 92-page easy-to-read memoir and motivational book. He begins by sharing about his painful struggles within the family unit throughout his childhood. Then he shared his journey as he went into young adult life and as he began working as a janitor, earning $6 per hour. He shared his work ethic and motivational journey as he continued to find better jobs. As the book progresses through his life, he talked about many trials, errors and successes over the next few years, laying out how he would continue to work very hard to become a millionaire and live in a popular upscale city in just five years.

I could easily relate to the beginning of this book, The MindSet. I understand what it’s like coming from a poor area of town with a poor family. We learn at the very beginning of the book, that Ace and his siblings come from a poor family with parents who abuse alcohol and a brother who always commits crimes and eventually ends up in prison. Ace has a sister who does look out for him though. Due to his parents very poor choices, their bad drinking habits, poor money handling, erratic spending and their overall bad choices in life, Ace was not able to attend college. He knew that without a college education, and in order to get a foothold in the door of the job market competition, he would have to have a complete mindset shift. He would have to make a change in his work ethic and a complete change of how he saw his future. All of these things changed his life for the good.

Even though Ace mentioned a few times how his parents constant fighting affected his childhood and his friendships growing up, where he hated having friends over, or like the many times his mother would be drunk, causing all sorts of horrible things to happen, many items broken at home or him being physically hurt. He still appreciated that his parents came through for him at some of the lowest points in his life. They were there for him when he needed them most. These were very special parts of the book. Basically in writing this book, the author is encouraging the readers during tough situations, that the storms will pass. With the right mindset and very hard work you will succeed in your goals in life, if you persevere and don’t give up.

In each chapter, Ace Bowers talks to us about a different part of his struggle to become a millionaire. In each chapter, he also gives us tips and pointers on things like being self-sufficient, living an independent life. He also shows us how to handle being in debt and handling bad credit issues and other problems that keep us from securing well-paid jobs. My favorite chapter was also one of the turning points of the book. It was where he met his future wife Yuka, who was a Japanese girl that moved into his apartment. At this time he was still a janitor. He was at a very low point in his life and very depressed. She came in as an angel in his life. Then there came the time when he found out he was going to be a father and that day changed everything. He was a new man with amazing will power and a new determination in life. He wanted to be the wonderful father that he never had growing up. He started getting every job he could possibly get. He wanted to show his sons how motivation and determination would take them through life and get them anywhere they wanted to go.

I thought this book was inspiring and a joy to read. It was also very simple and clear to understand the message Ace was trying to get across to the reader. I found no spelling or grammatical errors and no major use of profanity. Therefore, I feel this book was professionally edited. With his writing style and the ease of understanding what he was teaching us as he shared his life experiences, I will gladly give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. This book will be good for all teens and older. Adult readers who are looking for ways to either improve their life or completely change their current lifestyle, by changing their mind set and becoming better than they thought possible, the steps to overcoming obstacles and struggles to achieve any goal are in this book. The key is motivation and to never quit or give up working toward your goal.

No doubt, Ace's life was difficult. It must have taken a miracle for him to stumble upon his future wife when he was at his lowest.
