Climate Change, The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Public Pedagogies: The Case for Ecosocialism by Mike Cole is a nonfiction book. The author explores the climate change relationship with capitalism. Cole evaluates pro-capitalist claims that the Fourth Industrial Revolution is a revolutionary force and tackles them from a Marxist viewpoint. Furthermore, he highlights the role of climate crisis activism with Greta Thunberg’s part in the movement. In the last chapter, the author focuses on harnessing technology for the good of all.

This publication has three chapters that are well organized and easy to understand, even to a layperson. It is also an excellent presentation for further discussions and conversations about climate change. I picked this work to understand better the problems we are facing and to inform myself about them. However, I am not in the field of politics or environmental studies. Nevertheless, this book delivered and provided me with what I was looking for from reading it. No matter where we live, the future of our planet should concern all of us. Each day we see the proofs of a need for emergency action.

My favorite part of this book is the plethora of information it provides. The reasoning about the effective transition to a new ecosocialist civilization is thought-provoking. An anti-capitalist option is the only solution for our current situation, as Cole mentions. But with implementing insights from ecosocialism and ecofeminism. Throughout this work, the author objectively provides many sources of information. It is a highly engaging read.

I would recommend this book to students and teachers of environmental studies. The researchers and professors interested in these topics will find substantial material within this work. It is a work that will appeal to any reader interested in the ongoing climate situation the world is facing now. Furthermore, this work provides a plethora of information that we all need to know. It is filled with data all in one place but also offering some solution for moving forward.

It is hard to find anything dislikeable about this book. This publication is logical, insightful, and educational. I didn’t notice any grammatical errors. Moreover, sources and additional notes support the author's claims. This book is exceptionally well-edited. It is cohesive and well-organized work. For that and previously mentioned reasons, I will rate this book with a perfect score of four out of four stars.

I like the innovation that the author has shown, because it covered a whole new topic and allowed ordinary people to understand a complex problem in a simple way.
