I am sure you know by now that college is not for everyone. So it's time to ignore the negative stereotypes about blue-collar jobs and do what you love for a living, keeping in mind that you don't need a college degree to live the life of your dreams.
Blue-Collar Cash by Ken Rusk is a book that will change your mindset about blue-collar jobs. The author's success is a testament to how big one can make it in life without going to college. Hence, he has decided to help people become the best they can be through the eye-opening and insightful lessons in this book. Mr. Rusk recounts how he considered going to college after high school. However, he also decided to get a job in a foundation waterproofing company where his elder brother worked. He was soon promoted and eventually learned how to run the business. As he progressed, he enrolled in college because he assumed it was necessary. But when a life-changing opportunity surfaced, Mr. Rusk dropped out of college. Today, he owns a successful company of his own and has helped many people achieve their goals.
This book is the best I have read this year! Though I am a college graduate, I couldn't believe this book's impact on my mindset. So I am sure it would be of great benefit to people working or planning to start blue-collar jobs. Also, there are life lessons and morals to be learned throughout the book, and my favorite is about writing down our goals. Thank you, Mr. Rusk!
I loved all the aspects of this book, but if I have to pick a favorite, it's the book's relevance. Throughout this book, the author highlights thought-provoking facts that work in favor of blue-collar jobs. For example, the author's statement that graduates are now taking jobs that don't require college degrees is true and thought-provoking. He also advises that vocational education needs to be a core part of high schools. I like how he raises valid points on the different paths we can follow to provide for ourselves and our families in today's society. And believe me, this author has helped me to understand that what matters is not what you do for a living. Read the book to find out what matters.
Another aspect of the book that impressed me was the author's engaging writing style. It felt as if I was having a face-to-face chat with him over a bottle of wine. His explanations are easy to understand due to how he breaks each topic into simple bits. I love how well organized the author's lessons are. They are defined, detailed, and also follow a progressive line of actions to be taken. Furthermore, Mr. Rusk's great sense of humor and conversational tone make his discussions exciting and engaging.
In conclusion, I am glad to tell you that there was nothing I disliked about this book. Mr. Rusk backs his points with facts and also shares inspiring stories of people who are now successful through their blue-collar jobs. From this book, you would learn how to save, use your time judiciously, set goals and achieve them, and most importantly, achieve comfort, peace, and freedom, which are the core elements promoted by the author in this book. It gladdens my heart to rate Blue-Collar Cash a perfect 4 out of 4 stars for being such an inspiring read that is also exceptionally edited.
I highly recommend this book to readers who don't think college is for them and those currently in blue-collar jobs. Nevertheless, graduates who are still facing challenges in the labor market would find this book inspiring and beneficial. And if you are a parent who thinks that a child must attend college to be successful, please read this book.
