My Awakening: Living With A Chronic Health Condition was written by Judith Brown. This is a non-fiction book that narrated Judith Brown's life as she struggled with her health condition. Judith did not care about her health, as she was only interested in her work and career. Soon, she was diagnosed by doctors of having a chronic health condition which affected her kidney. Dr. Osman and other doctors believed that she would require a kidney transplant to be able to survive. However, to get an available kidney, it will take four to six years. Did she survive this health condition?

One positive thing about this book was that it was motivational and encouraging. This was one feature of the book I enjoyed the most. Most people who are going through some health challenges will enjoy this book. It tends to restore hope and reveal the significance of relationships and friends. For example, Judith Brown’s attitude after her diagnosis was encouraging. I believe those in similar health conditions will learn from her perspective.

Also, the second positive thing about this book that I liked was that it contained some photos of Judith’s life. I was fascinated by the pictures of her Doctoral Degree ceremony. For those who are career-driven, this aspect of the book will inspire them. Also, I considered her faith in God a positive attribute. She continued to trust God for a miracle.

Another thing I considered positive about this book was that the writer was frank with her story. She maintained transparency throughout the book. An instance was how she discussed her private life with her former boyfriend. I thought her story would help most people to escape dangerous relationships.

There was nothing I considered negative about this book. I did not find any aspect of it displeasing. I liked every part of her story. Her points were not overly emphasized. I enjoyed some suspense elements in this book, as I wanted to know if she was successful in her kidney transplant.

This book was not professionally edited. Therefore, I rate it 3 out of 4 stars. I could have given it a perfect score had it been that the book was perfectly edited.

I recommend this book to those who enjoy motivational stories and memoirs. It will also suit those who are in severe health conditions who need their hopes for survival restored. Those who want to learn more about health and relationships can also pick up this book.

Reading your review, I think the book is aptly named. I would imagine how the author would feel not knowing if she would get a donor to save her life or not. thanks for the captivating review.

I live with my own chronic health condition. I admire the author's resilience, but I don't think I'll read this. Thanks though.

Writing a book and sharing your experience hoping to help other people that are going through the same things is the only good thing that can come from a chronic illness. Thank you for your insightful review!

This sounds like a very inspiring take! I think I would like to read about Judith’s health conditions and I’m curious about whether she is able to get her kidney and also about how she lives with a chronic condition.
