From Stressed to Blessed by Cynthia Chase is a short book about advice on how to meditate correctly in order to reduce anxiety and stress. The author also adds her story in this book by describing her life experiences, as well as the effect of meditation in her life. The text has a simple, conversational, and casual tone, which is used by the author to grasp the reader’s attention and guide him/her to the correct way of meditating.

The writer begins by describing the challenges of being a single mother to four boys. Her schedule was highly hectic, as she worked three jobs at a time, while also studying for her master’s degree. The author then recalls her early connection to spirituality when going to church with her dad in North Carolina. She was introduced to meditation by her friend, and her teacher, named Robert Ayres, greatly assisted her in learning how to properly meditate. She then discusses the effects of meditation on a person, as she claims that a person who meditates often deals with trauma and stressful situations in a calmer and more relaxed manner than a person who does not meditate.

I liked several things in this guide. To begin with, I found no errors in the whole book, as it has been exceptionally edited. I also liked the logical organization in this book, which made it simple to understand and easy to read. What I liked most about this book were its inspirational quotes, which were engaging and made me think more deeply about meditation. The quotes were from various sources, and many of them were highly profound.

What I disliked most about this book was the fact that the author failed to adequately develop this guide. She did not offer sufficient information about meditation, as she left some significant details out of this book.

This book will be enjoyed mostly by young readers who want to try meditation to relieve their stress. Also, single mothers may like this book because they will relate to the author’s struggles. This guide is best suited for readers who follow Hinduism, Buddhism, or New Age beliefs, as meditation is linked to these beliefs.

To conclude, I will give this book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I deducted a star from this book because of the incompleteness of the text. I could not give it a lower score since it was an inspiring, rational, well-edited book.
