Thanks for the excellent review! As a retired nurse myself, I knew I didn't have what it took to be a Hospice nurse. I can relate to the author regarding the grief the medical caregivers' experience when they lose a patient. I have a dear friend who chose to be a Hospice nurse in a Hospice House, and although she is the most loving and caring person I have ever met, having your patients never get better is a huge strain on a nurse emotionally. I lost three sisters, all of whom were Hospice patients, so I know first hand what it takes to be a part of a Hospice team and see death day after day! This book is definitely one I want to read! Just the chapter headings sound enticing. Thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks@BCreech, I think the topic is even more relevant now with all the Covid deaths and health care workers unable to get the emotiional support they need.

Your review is wonderful and has me heart-broken, now I'm imagining the book will gut me. But it sounds like a read, thank you for such an honest review.

I admire hospice workers. I relied on their services for both my parents. I lived 2000 miles away from my mom when she died, and I was my dad's caretaker when he passed. I hope writing this book was a healing exercise for the author. It sounds like a very helpful resource. Thank you for your thoughtful review.

I am sorry about your parents, but glad that you had hospice to help. Thank you for your comments.

I'm sure that trying to comfort the dying and the loved ones they leave behind is not easy work.

Thank you for your touching and personal review.

This story gives readers an insight into a difficult job. Hospice care can easily cause burnout in workers. The author has opened a window to help readers become more compassionate about the work they do. Thanks, Diana, for this heartfelt review.

I agree - and even more so now, I would think the burnout in Covid wards is at an all time high. Thank you for your comment.
