The Crystal Road by Jen-Andrea Day is an inspirational non-fiction book.

In this book, the author takes us on a journey by telling the reader the story of her life. She starts the book from her childhood until the current time when she is in her late forties. From her happy childhood memories to the awkward teenage years, from sibling change with adoption to dating, this book has so many relatable moments. She fills this autobiography with thought-provoking moments, trials, and tribulations. Most of the book deals with the author seeking love and how she copes with alcohol abuse by her husband. Later on, she gets a devastating cancer diagnosis.

My favorite part of this book is the author's honesty. Day doesn't shy away from embarrassing stories. The transparent way of showing us her life is so refreshing. Reading her story will help readers to put their way of life into perspective. It is a humbling experience that we often need.

This book inspires me to be a more considerate person and to face my problems with more courage. It is a book that made me feel the entire spectrum of emotions. Furthermore, the writing style is very addicting. Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop. I found the author's voice very calm and shooting notwithstanding, the heavy subjects she talks about in the book. Her journey and the way she deals with all the problems she faced inspired me. It is a very hopeful book that gives insight into a robust woman's mind.

This book deals with a lot of topics that may trigger some readers like the loss of a loved one, cancer, and alcohol abuse. Therefore, be aware of it if that is something that you don't like reading. I wouldn't recommend this book to younger readers because of the topics of the book and sexual connotations. The readers who enjoy reading autobiographies about ordinary people with relatable life issues are the perfect audience for this book. I would also recommend this book to anyone interested in reading books about women overcoming struggles, illnesses, and marital problems. There are just a few borderline profanities in this book and a moderate description of sexual relations.

I would rate this book with four out of four stars. There is nothing I disliked about this book. The editing is exceptionally well done. I only noticed one grammatical error. Besides that, I justify the perfect score by captivating storytelling. Therefore, I can't rate this book any lower.
