Research says America lives on credit. How? Because, an average American go to college and take on a student loan, buy a car and take on an auto loan, buy things through credit card debts, buy a home and take on a large mortgage, maybe start a business through an SBA loan, then get older and get on some medical debts. Credit is on every step of the way. But only few people realize that taking on debt is a very expensive shortcut. So, when you’re knee-deep in that kind of situation, is there ever a way to get out of it? How can you live debt-free in modern-day America?

Debt Cleanse: How to Settle Your Unaffordable Debts for Pennies on the Dollar (And Not Pay Some At All) by Jorge P. Newberry is your rarest opportunity to rid yourself of unaffordable debts, and pledge to never take it on again. The author states that most people’s reason for work is to pay their otherwise overwhelming debts, and with that, their lives become imbalance. Here, he presented his life and business situation as a major example. He wrote a series of strategies on how to stop paying, settle the debts at great discounts, or not pay at all. It gives step by step guide on what to do when faced with debts like mortgages, auto loans, student loans, business loans, credit card personal loans, medical bills, or payday loans. It also provides sample letters needed to send to creditors. The book also offers a link to the website where you can consolidate your documents, access help, and even ask for crowdfunding for your court expenses. It also has suggestions on how to survive life without taking more debts.

My favorite part was the conversation between the author and his wife, and I can relate to most of it. The things I don’t like about this book are, one, when the author promoted his website on the very first pages of the book, and two, the invitation for debtors and creditors to join the same website. I would not be comfortable if my creditor be on the same group as I am.

I recommend this book to anyone who’s up to cleansing his/her debts, and setting up for real success. It’s a risky take, but this might be your only way out. Even if your situation is not too bad wherein you don’t need the strategies yet, this book still gives warnings on what will happen in an event you take this path. I did not see any error, and this book looks professionally edited.

Overall, I would rate this book as four out of four stars because it’s a great read and very informative. The full information about each type of debt and the teachings on how to settle it should be a must-known information for everyone. Kudos to the writer for compiling all these data and helping people live fulfilling lives without debts.
