[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "From Outhouse to Penthouse" by Tessa Greenspan.] [rwc=id427358-125]4 out of 4 stars.[/rwc]From Outhouse to Penthouse by Tessa Greenspan is a motivational memoir about the author’s poor upbringing and her gradual rise to success and prosperity. The author offers useful advice through her story, encouraging the reader to push on for a better life and a higher standard of living. She employs a simple and casual style to inform the reader about her experiences and relay her message to the world.

The writer begins by writing about her mother’s childhood and the difficulties her mother faced while growing up. She mentions that her mother was raped at fourteen years of age by a stranger, which led her to an unwanted pregnancy. The baby that was born from this pregnancy was the author. The writer describes some of the challenges that she faced during her childhood years because she did not know her real father. Even though her mother married a man to take care of her family and she had a daughter with him as well, the author never received the love she deserved from her stepfather. The author’s mother also suffered from a horrible car accident, which led to an amputation of one of her legs. However, these challenges made the author stronger, more independent, and more resilient.

There were many aspects of the memoir which I thoroughly enjoyed. Firstly, the author originally expressed her emotions, going over some of the troubling experiences that she faced throughout her life. Furthermore, the memoir was professionally edited, as I saw only a few errors in the entire book. Additionally, the book was very interesting and exciting to read, as the writer described her experiences in a dramatic way. Besides this, the book was logically, clearly, and coherently organized, as the author followed a chronological order in the text, permitting the reader to fully understand the writer’s life. What I liked most about this book was that it contained several pictures from the author’s life, which added some vividness and liveliness to the text, thereby lightening up the mood of the memoir.

This book is best suited for female readers that enjoy reading inspirational memoirs. Women will prefer this book, as they will relate better to the author’s challenges as a woman and a mother. Young readers can also benefit greatly from the writer’s advice and experience. Readers of all religions can appreciate this book.

To conclude, I rate this book with 4 out of 4 stars. This is because the memoir was professionally edited, exceptionally structured, original, vivid, and exciting. ****** From Outhouse to Penthouse View: on Bookshelves | on Amazon
