Unveil Your Intimate Self by Elena Georgiadou is a book that aims to help the reader unlock their greatest self, specifically in the areas of “mental, emotional, physical and spiritual” well-being. This book tackles some of the issues facing the modern individual, such as personal identity, finding peace, self-fulfilment and diet health, and attempts to put them into perspective. This allows the reader to gain an understanding and seek the source of disorder so that they may implement the solutions given in the later chapters.

In the first parts, the book speaks on freedom, consciousness and unifying the mind, body and soul. The later sections then discuss how to develop a healthy mind, body and spiritual life. Georgiadou makes use of a variety of principles including those from Greek mythology, The Bible, Biology, Physics and Ayurveda, to name a few. This demonstrates one of the key themes throughout the book, which is that “separation is an illusion” as all things are ultimately connected. The book is made to be as accessible as possible with the use of pictures to demonstrate different yoga poses, instructions laid out in short paragraphs, concise lists and relevant examples.

In certain areas, the author regularly points out the inability of "classic science" to answer questions with awareness and consciousness, however, science still is used to explain a number of concepts within the book. The repeated critique of science in the earlier chapters was what I disliked most about the book. It can seem as though Georgiadou has a bias against science since, as illustrated in the book, the answer to these questions cannot be found within one school of thought alone.

I give this book a 3 out of 4 stars rating. It is well-edited and the layout is designed with the reader in mind. I would recommend this book to those interested in self-improvement, regardless of their level of spirituality. Although targeted to a specific audience, most individuals can read this book and implement at least one valuable lesson or practice that will benefit their lives. This accessibility is my favourite aspect of the book.

However, the audience best suited for this book would be those interested in spiritual practices, as the book regularly mentions concepts such as “Higher Consciousness” and enlightenment, which would be easier to grasp by someone already familiar with this particular language. Those who are unfamiliar could still benefit from the general principles that teach one to break free from conditioning, how to manage stress, how to meditate or the importance of taking care of the body with restful sleep, a balanced diet and exercise.
