After putting this book down, the first action I took was to hug each of my two dogs. I also gave them a kiss on the top of their heads and told them how much I love them. This book has forever changed the bond I have with my furry companions.

Away To Me, My Love by Naomi McDonald will touch your heart from the first page. This biography tells the life of a horse trainer who adds sheep herding to her life with the help of her beloved Luke. The author weaves memories of her childhood into the book, sharing with us the abuse and abandonment she experienced. This biography is also so much more. It’s a true-life story of learning and growing, overcoming negativity that holds us back, and realizing that life hardly ever goes the way we plan.

The first time Naomi witnessed sheep herding, she felt a tug at her heart and spirit. She knew there was a special place for her within this field. Years and years later she purchased her Luke. Luke turned out to be more to her than she could have imagined. With Luke, she learned about the world of sheep herding, and she learned about overcoming the past emotions haunting her present.

Naomi also made invaluable friends as she grew with Luke. One of which introduced her to the hidden past lives wishing to speak with and guide her. She was able to confront the emotions that had been holding her back. From there, she and Luke continued their kinship until time came to say goodbye.

I cannot state what I liked the most. The list is too long to narrow down. This book is just beautiful. Her story is well-written. I felt like I was experiencing her life with her. I cried with her during her childhood struggles. I felt angry with her at her adult bullies, and I rejoiced with her many times.

Although the book contained some beliefs I don’t agree with, I was able to fully understand and cherish the meaning behind the beliefs.

The heart-wrenching moments of the book are what I liked the least. The last third of the book especially had me in tears. I had to put the book down at one point and let myself process before I could continue. However, a book that provokes that much emotion is obviously a great read. I do not hesitate to rate Away To Me, My Love by Naomi McDonald 4 stars out of 4 stars.

The book did not contain any foul language. In fact, Naomi seems to make sure of that and uses cute phrases in lieu of crude words she could have said. This biography seems to have been professionally edited as I only found a couple simple typos.

Away To Me, My Love is most appropriate for adults as it does contain mistreatment of a child. Advanced ideals are also expressed, such as reincarnation and past lives. If you have a heart that loves animals, this is a must read for you. Just have some tissue nearby.
