This is more than merely a “coming of age” story. City Boy, Country Boy is a roadmap to success. In this encouraging read, we take a walk with James Cooley, a young man who starts out his life in dire circumstances. He is in a neighborhood that most people do not escape from when he is offered the opportunity to live in the country. While there, he learns about faith, responsibility and hard work. These are lessons that will be invaluable throughout his life. If you have ever believed that God has a purpose and a plan for your life or that “everything happens for a reason”, it will be confirmed in this book. This remarkable young man is given opportunities, as we all are. The notable fact is that he takes opportunities as presented and works hard when he gets there. This simple choice along with the work ethic he learned in the country made him the man he is today. He rises to every occasion even when he doesn’t feel worthy or capable. He doesn’t allow doubt to stand in his way. He presses forward as he confronts his obstacles head-on. James Cooley is a true pioneer that has cleared new paths on his journey. He took the initiative to create programs and processes where there were none in the military and beyond. Mr. Cooley is truly a philanthropist. He went back to the community where he grew up to encourage young people and let them know that there is a better life for them. He shows how his faith coupled with action and hard work can make your dreams come true. I would definitely rate this book a four out of four stars. This biography has the potential to be the light in a dark tunnel for so many. He is truly living a life of purpose and as the title so eloquently suggests, the story continues.
