This sounds like an interesting memoir. Fascinating how the moral taboos change from generation to generation; once out-of-wedlock pregnancy was such a big deal, and now it’s practically the norm. I may give this one a look. Thanks for the review, Theresam. :techie-studyingbrown:

I am not big on reading memoirs but from what I sampled this one drew me in from the first chapter. I couldn’t see myself having to give my baby up for adoption. I can image the loss and emptiness it leaves. Thank you for the great review.

This sounds like an intense story. Not sure if I could handle the content unless I knew it had a happy ending but I imagine that would be a spoiler! Thank you for that detailed review.

Wow, this sounds like an absolutely heart-wrenching read. I'd have to say I'm hesitant to read it, and it probably will make me sad, and it sounds from your review that the author really draws the reader into her grief (and it's a true story so it's even more impactful). I gather it's ultimately a story about resilience, but I think for now I'll stay away from this one. I think I'll need to be in a special mood to enjoy it. Thank you for your thorough review!

This is a heart-wrenching story. I can't imagine unwillingly giving up a child I birthed just to save face; worst still, no one acknowledged her pain. What an awful experience she had.

I remember those times, when girls were sent away, so as not to be discovered. And unfortunately the time of illegal abortions. You mention, in your review, that maybe it should not be read by the young. I think that this is just what they need to read, to see the pitfalls, of teenage pregnancy.

This story of grief is not for me because I'm still in the process of losing my baby, too. Her story looks a bit insightful, but quite depressing as well.

The book is focused on balancing teenagers crisis with societies look upon teenagers pregnancy. I like it.

We live in better times. It's books like these that remind us of struggles before our time. This book is heart-felt and sincere.

I will never in my life will ever again see or read anything related to subject matter of current book after I saw the movie "The Magdalene Sisters". It's awful, it's terrible and I refuse to touch it no matter how great it's written. No offense, just my opinion.

This sounds like quite the sad book. To be so young and have an event so big happen without anyone to talk to would be so hard. The other party who participated in the pregnancy just got to walk away. That part just gets me! Thank you for insight into this one. I’m a bit burnt out on memoirs at the moment, but this one does look enticing.

I disagree with the fact that the author led an interesting life. I feel she rather led a challenging life. Nice review though.

I enjoyed reading your review. Being a woman, young and born out of wedlock in the 60s was very much frowned upon. It was hard on the family, mother and child. I was born out of wedlock and I will never forget how we were treated in action and words by our relatives, supposed friends, schools and even at church.

I will pass right now but maybe one day I will read it.

I enjoyed the review, because it gave me a complete overview of the book and the story, which seems to me like a heartfelt one. With an insight into what was done during 1960s when pregnant so young and the emotional aspect of the book gives it depth.

Yeah. Many people doesn't know what they feel and what they going through in their live. The people only know how to judge. I really can't imagine how it feels to get pregnant at the young age. :(
