[rbc=4]id401012-125[/rbc]Walking with Angels by L.S. Stanley is an inspiring and fascinating look into the author’s life and pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela (the Way of Saint James). Walking the Camino is a spiritual journey to the shrine of Saint James the Great. Linda begins her journey in France and walks alone for six weeks to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. Through the course of her journey, she has time to appreciate her life and reflect upon changes she needs to make. Although she interacts with other pilgrims on her travels, she has no specific companion for her trip.

Years earlier, Linda suffered a life-threatening accident when she fell from a ladder at her home. After she left the hospital, she had months of physical therapy to regain her ability to walk on her own. She decided that once she was well enough, she would walk the Camino. Linda is Clairvoyant and has a spiritual guide named Marcus that comes to her aid when she needs to make an important decision or needs guidance. She has events in her life when she has premonitions or dreams that come true. She struggles with how to manage her abilities in a positive way.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting to hear the details of life on the Camino. The author describes the places pilgrims stay on their travels and the number of miles she travels each day. The conversations she has with her spiritual guides are thoughtful and well-written. These interactions are almost like therapy sessions. We learn more background about Linda and how various life events have impacted her. The chapters in the book also jump back and forth in time. This keeps the story interesting and keeps the reader engaged.

The author is very descriptive about her journey. She describes the countryside and villages with detail. It is easy to imagine her experiences on her travels. The author has led an interesting life. She has had experiences with clairvoyance and dreams that foreshadow important events. I enjoyed reading the discussions she had with her spiritual guide. She discussed serious and philosophical topics with him and he provided guidance to her. Since she is alone most of the time during her walks, this interaction moves the story along. However, one negative aspect I found in this book is her heavy reliance on her spiritual guide for guidance on trivial topics. For example, she would meditate to summon him for guidance on what to have for dinner or where to stay for the night.

I would recommend this book to anyone that is interested in walking the Camino or reading the details about it. I would also recommend this book to anyone that is interested in inspirational books. The author’s journey is inspiring to read. There were no sexual situations or profanity in this book, so I would recommend it for young adult readers. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There were a few typographical errors, but they did not take away from my enjoyment of the book.
