As someone who is on the fence about entrepreneurship, I approached this book for the gems of leadership and success. I love that she starts with a very important gem, and that is to start where you are with what you have. Too often when embarking on a new adventure, we need this or don't have enough of that, not realizing we have more than we think. Her advice is just to start. Take action and see where that lands you. You can't get further if you never take that first step. She then takes you into honing in on your business, like finding the best parts of your business, be it the best selling product or products your customers want and focusing on them. You are not going to be for everybody and that's ok. Figure out what works for you and what your audience wants and go! Because if you focus on who wants you and energize that, everybody wins. The book is broken down into 3 parts. Part 1 teaches you all about leading for success, breaking down the emotional aspects one is faced with, business mindset, the fundamentals of a successful organization and having work-life balance. She constantly leads and ends with the importance of learning and to keep going in order to strive and better the craft.

Part 2 is all about business value and the importance of all relationships in regards to personal, branding, marketing and retaining customers. Think of branding like a handshake or a first meeting she says, and that in itself tells you how important branding is. If your goal is to sell products, retaining customers is going to be your go to and she does a great job of breaking down your target market and how to test them as well as offering social media marketing tips to increase your brand and revenue.

Part 3 will thrust you into business clarity and may I say the most important chapter. A leader is not a friend but someone whose job it is to steer the business in the right direction. You can have a great business but with poor leadership, your ship will sink. And its the little things that shape the greatest leaders, like being proactive and not reactive or embracing uncertainty. Being a person who is not afraid of change and can move with the times and whose is willing to listen and resolve issues and not band-aid them are all great traits as leader and if you could stand to learn how to embody them more, she breaks it down here.

You ever heard the terms working on the business rather than in the business? Its the difference in knowing when to leave a task to the operations manager or team, or take it on. When to delegate a task, how to communicate appropriately and consistently and how to look ahead to forecast the next quarter all fall under this realm. Here she gives you 5 tips to navigate your role successfully to ensure you are as effective in your position as need be.

Experience is what led her here and she is giving all that she learned to increase your brand's revenue. From not allowing fear to take over, to embracing discomfort and also knowing how to accurately identify a problem, Dominica is armed to lead anyone business owner to leadership and success. I definitely give this book 4 out of 4.
