This book sounds exactly as I imagined it to be...but also not! The cover and title made it sound very dry, as you say, but element of adventure thrown in actually makes it look like a lot of fun. It's too bad I don't have as much time to read nonfiction these days, this sounds like a good read.

As somebody who grew up near the river, I could identify with this kind of tales. Your review is even more inviting. I look forward to reading this in the near future.

Nice review. A life time of fishing by Jack Walsh is an interesting book from the review. I will love to try out this book. Mr Walsh seems to be an experienced man who is business wise.

I have tried fly fishing, but I have not tried pearl diving. I'm afraid to swim deeper. I have just heard about this sea diamond mining. Thanks for the detailed review.

I like the fact that even though it's non-fiction, the story is narrated as an adventure. It makes it more fun that way. I would love to know more about the author's journey. Thank you for your review.

Thank you for the enthusiastic review! I read the book summary on Amazon and wasn't sure about it, but it was free to I thought why not. After reading your review, I have much higher hopes that I won't regret adding this book to my library.

Jack started his wet adventures when he was just six as the precocious Klonkie. The book chronicles his more than 70-year love affair with the sea. I love memoirs; reality is many times richer than fiction. I would love to sail the seas with Jack.

I feel like I'll like this book too. I don't know anything about fishing so I'm sure I'll learn a lot about this book. If this book plays out like an adventure story like you said, I'm sure it will keep me interested.

When interesting people lead interesting lives, it is always enjoyable to read about their memoirs. I've read some good ones recently and it looks like I'm going to have to add this one to my list of memoirs to read.

When I first read the title I thought “oh great another fishing book.” After reading this review however I realize it is much more then that and will be adding it to my list of must reads. I do think the reviewer is a bit of a prude, I mean it is a story told by a fisherman of a fisherman, of course there are going to be a few swear words.

Jack, venturing on a boat at the tender age of six, causing an uproar at the Barbour with his absence sort of reminds me of the animation movie, Moana. It's great that it reads like a adventure novel though it's a non fiction book. I'm not so much into sporting reads but if you promise me it's got lots of witty dialogue, I'll read it!

Thanks for your review. It is nice to know that this book is “deeper” and more interesting than it seems at first glance.

Great review. It seems interesting. Few people fish for recreation nowadays. Mr Walsh becoming successful, owning a boat and starting his own business is an inspiration. Aldo his business faced a lot of ups and downs, he still didn't give up. All business must undergo ups and downs, what is business without risk, but been able to overcome makes one a great.
