Huckleberry Finn definitely is the best in my opinion. Mark Twain is a great author whose works will always be remembered for years to come. His writing is unique and captivating.

I agree that Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn deserve all the acclaim they receive, but I do think that some of Twain's other books are underrated. I mean, why are Tom and Huck the only characters you ever hear about? To me, Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc is one of his better books. My favorite as a teenager was A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court. I did not enjoy it as much the one time I read it as an adult, but I intend to read it again before completely writing it off. Pudd'nhead Wilson is a compelling crime novel in which the title character solves a murder by virtue of his fascination with fingerprints, and it is revealed that two young men were switched at birth. Tom and Huck are wonderful, but in my opinion there are other works that are worthy of more attention than they are getting.

I read "The adventures of Tom Sawyer" as an adult, never having been introduced to this book when I was young. I still enjoyed it very much. In fact, it think it better this way; reading it when I was young could have given me quite a few "ideas"... :)
"The adventures of Tom Sawyer" is just one of those good old classics you have to encourage your children to read.
To read or not to read? That's not even a question!

Mark Twain's talent is simply some of the best writing there will ever be. I have enjoyed most of his writings and found that he tackles issues that, while we might not talk about today, are still issues that in the day he wrote about were important. I love the friendships formed in Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn books.

Tom Sawyer is a really good read about adventure and growing-up. A short time after this book, I got Huckleberry Finn and also found this a pleasure to read. Both books are great and younger readers should be encouraged to read them because, I do believe, many can relate to one of the other. Huck Finn connects more to me.

Other books published by Mark Twain are on the reading list.

First introduced to Mark Twain when his quote appeared in the introduction to the firm of 'The Big Short'.

While driving through Missouri, we listened to the audio version of A Connecticut Yankee in King Author's Court on the CD player. We felt the impact of our blow on Hannibal. The novel was quite enjoyable.
