I prefer the Bronte novels. I find that I can get into the flow of their writing more easily than I can with the Austen offerings.

I prefer Austen. Those books are lighter and funnier than the Bronte canon and I appreciate that. While I do love a dark tale myself, I'm not really into the Brontes' style.

I love Bronte (charlotte) for her characterization. I fell in love with her after reading Jane Eyre, portraying a strong and independent woman who fights for survival and self respect. Jane is a person who believes in erasing the limits to become an independent woman.

I enjoy Bronte more, their work has more realism and a concern with more substantive themes.

It is so true that their writing style is completely different. I completely agree that my choice at a specific moment would depend on my mood, though I love both of them.

I prefer Austen over Bronte. Maybe because I absolutely adored "Pride and Prejudice". I should give Bronte another chance though.

Both are influential classics, but I prefer the works by the Brontë sisters. They are darker, but have amazing character development and beautiful language. I could read Jane Eyre and Villette over and over again.

I definitely lean more toward Bronte; I guess I like darker and moodier books. Though I did enjoy Austen's Sense and Sensibility, so maybe I need to spend time with more of her work.

Interesting question! I enjoy the books from both Austen and the Brontë sisters apart from Wuthering Heights, which is one of the only books I've never finished because I just couldn't stand it. But I love Agnes Grey (completely and totally underrated) and Jane Eyre, of course. The Austen books are very dear to me, though, because there's just something so warm about them, like every time I read them I'm coming back to an old friend. Jane Eyre, due to both its size and the dark tone, isn't something I come back to quite as often, though I thoroughly enjoy it. They're just different! I say I enjoy both kinds of books, just at different times for different moods.

I’m team Austen. But my childhood wouldn’t have been complete without all of these books. Such wonderful reads!
