While I was student teaching, my honors students had to read classic books through the semester. I would often recommend books to them based on their interests. Many of the girls would ask for recommendations from me as I have read many different classics in my own studies through college.
Here are a few recommendations that I told my students:
Any of the Jane Austen classics, though "Persuasion" is my favorite.
The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien
Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte
Ivanhoe - Sir Walter Scott
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
Any Shakespeare play
Black Beauty - Anna Sewell
National Velvet - Enid Bagnold (I LOVE horses).
The Three Musketeers - Alexandre Dumas
Dracula - Bram Stoker
Frankenstein - Mary Shelley

I could go on forever. If anyone would like any more suggestions, let me know! My students enjoyed these selections very much.

Hey everyone I'm a new bee to this site,
And a big fan of paulo coelho , the Alchemist always goes first on the list , I am inspired by the simplicity of the book and the wisdom it passes on .
The other one is eleven minutes which i think has a predictable ending, yet the way it is described is just amazing i think you all should read it

'Snow' by Orhan Pamuk should be on the list of classics if it is not. It is excellent and can be read over and over again. Each time one sees new things in it.

Of Mice And Men was one of my favorite high school reads. Underrated, emotional, and full of life lessons!

Hi everyone, very much new to all of this!

My recommendation would be Aldous Huxleys ‘Brave New World’. I find it absolutely outstanding in its foresight and it even, in my opinion, beats Orwell’s 1984 for a startling view of how our present seems to be shaping up.
To me at least, a must read.

'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens was always my favorite classic novel growing up. I also love 'Sons and Lovers' by D. H. Lawrence. I think it perfectly captures the 'dysfunctional family' trope especially in relation to mothers and sons.

Pretend you don't see her by Mary Higgins Clarck. It's like the queen of sunspense, and one of the best crime novels ever!

Charles Dickens books are fascinating. I recommend both a tale of two cities and David Copperfield. My favourite is David Copperfield. It is a novel about this characters life and it's not only good to read, it is also very funny and has lots of entertaining events. It is hardly that a book would make me laugh, so this book was one of few.

"Eleven minutes" by paulo coelho
It witnesses a story of a prostitute from Brazil and how her journey in Europe unfolds to find her true self through sex. The story potrays her struggle with life and finding true love and realising her dreams; and a satisfying end :)

I love how the story has been written all from a female point of view ❤
